FGD on Other Forms of Reclamation in East Kalimantan
Saturday, 05/03/2022. Secretary of Bappeda for East Kalimantan Province, Mrs. Charmarijaty, ST, M.Si representing the Head of Bappeda for East Kalimantan Province attended the invitation to the "Focus Group Discussion on Other Forms of Reclamation in East Kalimantan" organized by the Indonesian Mining Experts Association (PERHAPI).
This FGD was carried out in order to discuss in depth various references regarding mechanisms for utilizing ex-mining areas so that they can be reused for the benefit of the community. Also present at this event were the Mayor of Samarinda (Mr. Andi Harun) along with representatives of mining companies in East Kalimantan.
Other forms of reclamation are an alternative step in utilizing former mining areas in ways other than revegetation, but can be used for other things for the benefit of the wider community. This is because not all ex-mining areas can be revegetated.
During the implementation of this FGD, a number of alternative efforts to utilize ex-mining areas were discussed, such as the possibility of turning ex-mining areas into tourist areas; meeting raw water needs; flood control; aquaculture; farm; as well as power plants.
Ms. Charmarijaty, ST, M.Si said that the East Kalimantan Provincial Government certainly welcomes this other form of reclamation effort considering that the current condition of ex-mining areas is so large and must be handled immediately. Carrying out an agenda like this shows a good commitment from PERHAPI to continue to pay attention to the impacts and aspects of the benefits of former mining areas for the benefit of the community.
