Head of Bappeda East Kalimantan as resource person on the theme "Investment Opportunities and Cooperation in the Development of Non-Oil and Gas Industries in East Kalimantan"

The Indonesian Parliamentary Cooperation Agency (BKSP) as one of the complementary organs of the Indonesian DPD in a series of working visit activities carried out from 21 to 23 September 2022, held a dialogue in order to explore potential cooperation regional and overseas, Thursday (22/09/2022).

The dialogue with the theme "Strengthening the Global Value Chains of East Kalimantan Industry in the Economic Partnership of Indonesia and the Netherlands" was opened by the Deputy Governor of East Kalimantan, Mr. Hadi Mulyadi and was held in full Hybrid at the Novotel Balikpapan Hotel and attended by elements of the DPD RI, East Kalimantan Provincial Government and Regency/City Governments throughout East Kalimantan, East Kalimantan Provincial Bappeda and Regency/City Bappeda throughout East Kalimantan, the Dutch Embassy, ​​as well as elements of the Business World.

In the dialogue, the Head of the Provincial Bappeda. East Kalimantan, Mr. Prof. Dr. Ir. H. M. Aswin, MM was one of the speakers who delivered a presentation regarding Investment Opportunities & Non-Oil and Gas Industry Development Cooperation in East Kalimantan Province.

In his presentation, he conveyed several projects that are ready for investment in East Kalimantan Province, including: Integrated B3 waste management center in KEK MBTK; Food Estate Program in Paser and PPU (North Penajam Paser); Development of tourist attractions: Derawan, Kakaban, Biduk-biduk, Maratua, Sangalaki, Kanjungan Island; and the Crumb Rubber Development Project in West Kutai.

The dialogue, which was moderated by the Deputy Chair of BKSP DPD Rl, Mr. Gusti Farid Hasan Aman, also presented other speakers, including the Deputy Minister of Trade of the Republic of Indonesia (Dr. Jerry Sambuaga) who delivered a presentation on Opportunities and Challenges of the Indonesian and Dutch Trade Partnership as well as Economic Sector Officials at the Dutch Embassy who conveyed forms of cooperation in developing the industrial sector to potential partners in Indonesia.

As stated, the Netherlands has an excellent reputation in water management, urban planning, smart cities, horticulture and renewable economics such as solar energy and wind energy. Apart from this investment, the Netherlands is also ready to offer its knowledge regarding global service chains in agriculture, health and manufacturing.

Through this dialogue, it is hoped that the partnership between the two countries (Indonesia and the Netherlands) will become even more strategic because Indonesia is currently making efforts to reduce the development gap between Java and outside Java, developing industries that have added value and do not just sell raw materials such as nickel, and build new growth centers, including through the construction of IKN in East Kalimantan.
