Resource Persons Related to Research Interviews with the Theme "Exploring a Just Energy Transition in Indonesia: Policy Analysis and Implementation"
Samarinda, (08/06/2023). East Kalimantan Province Bappeda through the Head of the Economy and Natural Resources Division, Mr. Wahyu Gatut Purboyo, was a resource person and also received a visit from the Research Team from the BRIN Legal Research Center which was held in the East Kalimantan Province Bappeda Propeda Meeting Room.

The visit of the 4-person Research Team aims to collect field data in the activities of the Indonesian Home Program of the Social Sciences Research Organization and the BRIN Humanora.

In the discussion held, Mr Gatut said that East Kalimantan is one of the coal producing regions which is a non-renewable resource which is predicted to run out around 2060. Therefore, As a form of anticipation by the East Kalimantan Provincial Government as a result of the depletion of coal reserves, it is maximizing the downstreaming of palm oil, where the energy transition has been raised in the discussion of New Renewable Energy (EBT) in planning documents in East Kalimantan, namely the RPD, RKPD and RPJPD.

It was further stated that currently in East Kalimantan there are 18 companies that utilize Palm Oil Head Biomass, 6 companies that have utilized Palm Oil Head Biomass, and 2 belt press management companies as an effort to encourage energy transition.
