3rd plenary session of 2021 TKPSDA WS Mahakam
Head of East Kalimantan Province Bappeda, Prof. Dr. Ir. H. M. Aswin, MM opened the III plenary session of the Mahakam Water Resources Management Coordination Team (TKPSDA WS) which was held on November 15, 2021 in Samarinda.
Discussion of institutional empowerment in the management of integrated water resources is the subject of this third session. Previously the TKPSDA WS Mahakam Secretariat had collected data and information about the problems to be discussed by coordinating with Perumdam Tirta Kencana and Perumdam Tirta Mahakam.
The problem faced by Perumdam in WS Mahakam is mostly the absence of operational or maintenance handover on the intake built by the Kalimantan IV River Region IV Samarinda. This is a problem for Perumdam in terms of operation and maintenance of intake because there is no legal basis for Perumdam to carry out these activities.
Unlike the intake assets built in dams, intake with free collection in river bodies (free intake) is what must be a concern considering between the two agencies, both the Kalimantan River Balai IV Samarinda as the initiator of development and Perumdam as an operational implementer has their own problems related to the maintenance of intake that must be found in the middle of the river.
In his remarks, Mr. Aswin stressed this is one of the important roles of TKPSDA WS Mahakam to assist in consulting with related parties needed to achieve integration in the management of water resources in the river area.
"In order to achieve understanding between sectors and between interest owners, it is necessary to integrate and align between sectors and between interest owners in the management of water resources" he explained.
