Achmad Djunaedi, MURP., Ph.D in his presentation as a resource person explained the Smart City and Sustainable Transportation Concept as well as its Challenges and Implementation in Indonesia.
-
In terms of concept, a Smart City is a city that adopts solutions that utilize information and communication technology (ICT) to increase efficiency, reduce costs, which improve the quality of life and improve citizen involvement, physical infrastructure and digital technology to make cities more livable, resilient and better able to respond to challenges.
-
Furthermore, sustainable transportation is any means of transportation that has a low impact on the environment (including walking and cycling), and to move people, goods and information in a way that reduces the impact on environment, economy and society.
-
For this reason, in an effort to synergize sustainable transportation that implements smart cities, there are 4 things that can be done, including:
1. Smart Street: Smart Street is carried out using various sensors to make vehicles safer and more environmentally friendly;
2. Smart Vehicles : Smart Vehicles are real-time devices that are empowered with computing and correspondence capabilities to be able to collaborate with each other;
3. Smart Parking : Smart Parking manages a self-parking framework to help drivers choose parking spaces; and
4. Smart Mobility: Smart Mobility manages the movement of people and goods in cities by integrating them.
-
Apart from that, there are several challenges in implementing Smart City and Sustainable Transportation in Indonesia, including those related to leadership and policies (concepts and understanding), funding, technology availability, human resource support, and Regional innovation management.
-
Through the webinars and discussions held, it is hoped that all policy makers will understand how to implement smart cities and sustainable transportation as well as the challenges that will be faced, especially in Indonesia.
