The Importance of Irrigation Development in PPU
Samarinda, 18/11/14. Irrigation development in North Penajam Paser Regency (PPU) is a priority program of the Paser Regency Government 
North in order to increase agricultural production in PPU Regency, especially in Babulu Darat District, which is a rice granary area.
This was conveyed by the North Penajam Paser Regency DPRD during a working visit to the East Kalimantan Provincial Bappeda office on Tuesday, 11/18/14 in the Propeda meeting room on the second floor of the East Kalimantan Provincial Bappeda.
The working visit of the DPRD Regency PPU Commission III in the context of consultations on the 2015 planning program for the North Penajam Paser Regency area was led by the Chairman of Commission III, Baharuddin with 5 members and accompanied by the Secretariat of the PPU Regency Government Council and was received directly by the Bappeda of East Kalimantan Province led directly by Plh. Head of Bappeda East Kalimantan Province, Ir.H. Nazrin, M.Si and accompanied by the Head of Human Resources Development, Drs.H. Hariyo Santoso; Head of Regional Development Infrastructure, Yusliando, ST; Head of Economics Ir. Ujang Rachmad, M.Si; Head of Government and Apparatus Division, Siti Sugiyanti, SE., M.Si and Head of Sub-Division within the Bappeda of East Kalimantan Province as well as related staff.
Commission III DPRD PPU Regency conveyed several aspirations including: 1. The importance of irrigation development in PPU Regency in order to increase agricultural production; 2. Continuation of the construction of coastal abrasion barriers in the Tanjung Jumlai area; 3. Community assistance program in the form of clean water and electricity; 4. Overcoming unemployment is estimated that as of January 1 2015, the PPU Regency Government will no longer extend the 1,700 honorarium/outsorsing staff.
The response from the East Kalimantan Provincial Government, in this case the East Kalimantan Provincial Bappeda, was conveyed by Plh. The Head of Bappeda and the Heads of Divisions within Bappeda of East Kalimantan Province, namely all programs and activities based on the 2013-2018 East Kalimantan Province RPJMD with Program/Activity plans through Financial Assistance for North Penajam Paser Regency: 1). Continued Development of the Land Side of the PPU Port; 2). Muebelair Procurement of Middle/Senior High School Meeting Rooms in PPU Regency; 3). Procurement of furniture and office space for elementary and middle school teachers throughout PPU Regency; 4). Construction of Jalan Sotek Bukit Subur PPU; 5). Construction of the Coastal Road from Sesumpu Bridge – Corong Beach; 6). Land Certification. (Public Relations of Bappeda of East Kalimantan Province/Sukandar, S.Sos).
