Round 1 Discussion of the Regional Consultation Forum to Accelerate the Economic Transformation of East Kalimantan with the theme: Green Hydrogen, Green Ammonia and Ecotourism

Samarinda, (13/11/2025) - Bappeda East Kalimantan Province is again holding a Regional Consultation Forum with a focus on accelerating regional economic transformation with the theme Green Hydrogen, Green Ammonia and Ecotourism. The first round of discussions was formed to strengthen synergy between stakeholders in formulating a productive and sustainable economic diversification strategy.


As the leading sector in strategic planning, the East Kalimantan Bappeda is trying to reduce economic dependence on the extractive sector, especially coal, by increasing the contribution of the processing industry and ecotourism which have high added value. This first round of discussion was attended by various government agencies, business actors, banks, academics, trade unions, and civil society organizations to jointly discuss the main actions and supporting actions needed to realize green economic development targets in East Kalimantan.


Priority economic activities such as the development of the green hydrogen and green ammonia industries are projected to not only increase economic value and make a major contribution to GRDP, but also open up opportunities. work for tens of thousands of local workers. On the other hand, the ecotourism sector in East Kalimantan needs to continue to be encouraged to grow sustainably with a strategy of increasing service standards, connectivity between tourist destinations, and developing local community-based potential.


Through this FKD, involvement and economic benefits can be felt by all levels of society. A collaborative approach facilitated by Bappeda is the main key in synchronizing policies, investment and human resource development for the success of inclusive and sustainable economic transformation.
