Most investments in Indonesia still use an extractive approach that is oriented towards the exploitation of economic and natural resources, thereby destroying the environment and making industrialization too late. Investment is only concentrated in certain regions and sectors, thus becoming a source of regional and sector inequality.
Despite the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the value of Australian investment realization was stable with a value reaching USD 348.55 million, up 0.1% from the total realization in 2019. However, the largest sector in demand is mining and East Kalimantan is the third largest investment destination compared to other provinces in Indonesia.
The Character of Australian Investors is; does not want to take big risks, requires regulatory clarity, bureaucratic processes, project sustainability and guarantees as well as information such as simple feasibility studies, supporting infrastructure, potential local partners.
