Another alternative for using clean water in Bontang City
Samarinda, (08/01/2021),Bontang City's underground water can no longer be used by residents due to the quantity and The quality is reduced (-200 liters/second), so other alternatives are needed to use clean water in Bontang City. This was conveyed by the Chairman of Commission III of the Bontang City DPRD, Amir Tosina, during a working visit to the Bappeda of East Kalimantan Province.
A total of seven members of the Bontang City DPRD members from Commission III paid a working visit to the Bappeda of East Kalimantan Province. This meeting was welcomed by the Acting Head of the Regional Infrastructure Division, Ibnu Abbas, S.Sos, M.Si accompanied by the Head of the Housing and Settlement Creation Infrastructure sub-division and the Head of the Transportation Infrastructure Sub-Division in the Propeda meeting room at the East Kalimantan Province Bappeda office.
Amir said one alternative was to use water in PT's former mining pit. Indominco amounting to 1 million m³. Another alternative is to utilize the Marangkayu Dam and Sukarahmat Dam which are currently still under construction.
In response to this, Ibnu said that in principle the East Kalimantan Provincial Government supports the use of water in the former mining pits of PT. Indominco as an alternative for clean water in Bontang City. According to him, the Bontang City Government needs to write to the East Kalimantan Provincial Government regarding the results of PT water quality and quantity tests. Indominco and scheduled an agenda for discussion of readiness criteria water use in PT mine pits. Indominco with related stakeholders, namely DESDM, BPKH, DLH and other SKPD. This was then followed up by the East Kalimantan Provincial Government to form a Cross-District/City SPAM Coordination Team both administratively, technically and institutionally.
